Packaging for the pharmaceutical industry represents some of the most complex and challenging product designs.
In an industry that is driven by extreme competition, attractive, quality packaging is a critical factor. It affects not only the way a product is perceived and the brand promoted, but it can also have a significant impact on how the product is ultimately used by the consumer. At Kentucky Paper Box, our reputation as a premier supplier to industries such as pharmaceutical is built on our ability to deliver a level of flexibility and value that is unmatched in the industry.
This 2-piece box set is just one example of how we took on a difficult multi-faceted project, and turned it into a cost-effective packaging solution that exceeded the customer’s expectations. The combination of materials, geometries, and stringent FDA standards meant that every aspect of production had to be tightly controlled. This includes adherence to stringent quality standards, and the production of ISO compliant CoC’s for each shipment.
The box is based on .040 black one side chipboard and features an exterior wrap that is printed in four-color process with a PMS spot color, and utilizes a velvet soft touch film lamination that incorporates a UV spot gloss. It also includes high quality embossed foil stamping, in addition to die cut notches on the length of the side panels. Die cut notches such as this are a unique feature for this type of package and is applied in the preproduction phase. Once assembled, the finished boxes are placed into custom manufactured corrugated cases, and packed onto Grade A heat treated pallets.
The general complexity and number of value added processes involved in this project are more than most our competitors could accommodate. However, through the dedication of our staff, and the use of high-efficiency processes and methodologies we were able to deliver superior value and unbeatable quality. In fact, initially the customer had split up production between us and another vendor. However, after we exhibited to them the extent of our capabilities, they shifted the entire production run to KPB. This includes orders that range from 75,000 to 150,000 each, delivered with 2.5 to 3 week lead times.
