This rigid clamshell package was designed for a wine and spirits application, and includes a number of value-added features throughout the design. The design calls for dimensions of 12” x 8-1/2” x 4”, and a 4-1/16” spine, all composed of .060 lined chipboard. The exterior wrap is printed four color process, with velvet soft touch film lamination. The inside liner is also printed in four color process, but includes a dull aqueous coating.
On the surface these seem like standard specifications, but applying these design elements represents many value added processes that would typically increase costs significantly if produced elsewhere. In addition, the combination of processes, dimensions, and tight tolerances were beyond what our equipment was designed to accommodate. However, one of the most impressive points of this project was our ability to go beyond our equipment process thresholds, while still delivering world class quality.
Going above and beyond to service our customers is what drove one of our long-term clients to refer this customer to us. The customer was very pleased with the result. Not only did they take delivery of all 10,000 finished pieces in just four weeks, but they also recognized the inherent value and extra work that went into this project.
