This project includes 5,000 finished pieces, with a design that presented many challenging aspects; successful completion of which would require a high level of innovation and tight process control. Designed as a two-piece box, components included an insert that could accommodate a wide variety of game additions, allowing the box to be adaptable across a number of product lines. The printed graphics required extensive measures to maintain quality. The printing includes a flood coat solid color with a high gloss coating. This type of solid ink coverage is highly susceptible to scuffing and finger marks, protecting it from damage required a great deal of attention during many phases of the manufacturing process.
The finished box features dimensions of 10 5/8” x 8 ¾” x 4” with a 4” deep lift off lid. It is based on .080 white board with an exterior wrap printed 4 color process and glueable gloss film lamination. The insert was composed of .048 white stock, and includes spacers, inserts, and platforms. The project was finished with custom die cut exterior sleeve that was composed of .024 SBS stock that was also printed 4 color process and included a gloss aqueous coating.
